Why hand deburring is the wrong answer at volume
Hand deburring is slow, it is inconsistent, and it is the single largest source of hand-arm vibration exposure and grinding dust in most fabrication shops. It is also unrepeatable: two operators produce two edge conditions, and neither is documented.
For parts that will be coated, painted or welded, edge condition is not cosmetic. An inconsistent edge is an inconsistent coating adhesion and an inconsistent weld prep — which becomes a rework line item on a programme with a QA gate.
