EcoR® is a dust collector built for one specific and serious problem: combustible aluminum dust.
The problem isn’t dirt. It’s explosion.
Aluminum dust from grinding, cutting, sanding or deburring is combustible dust. Suspended at the right concentration, with an ignition source, it explodes. A conventional industrial collector that accepts fine aluminum isn’t merely inadequate — it’s a pressure vessel waiting for a spark.
The risk multiplies in wet collectors. Fine aluminum reacting with water releases hydrogen. Hydrogen accumulating in the collector’s headspace is a second, faster explosion mechanism layered on top of the first.
This isn’t a housekeeping issue. It’s ATEX 2014/34/EU, EN 60079 for explosive atmospheres, EN 14491 for dust explosion venting.
Why it matters now in Greece
Shipbuilding superstructures, lightweight hull structures and aluminum armor applications are growing in the Greek defense and shipbuilding industry. Every one of them puts a grinding wheel on aluminum. Facilities built around steel are now processing aluminum in the same workshop, often with the same collection equipment. That’s where accidents happen — and where an ATEX inspection stops a program.
