SafeFlow® is not an accessory. It is the control measure that makes wet extraction of aluminium dust survivable.
The mechanism
Fine aluminium reacting with water liberates hydrogen gas. In a wet dust collector processing aluminium fines, that reaction runs continuously and the hydrogen collects in the headspace above the water. Hydrogen has a lower explosive limit of roughly 4% in air and an ignition energy an order of magnitude below most dusts. The collector installed to control your dust explosion risk quietly becomes a hydrogen accumulator.
SafeFlow® meters calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) into the process water at a controlled rate, raising and buffering pH to suppress the aluminium–water reaction at source. No reaction, no hydrogen, no headspace accumulation.
Why this belongs in your explosion protection document
If your facility grinds or cuts aluminium and uses wet extraction, hydrogen generation is a foreseeable hazard that your explosion protection document must address. “We change the water regularly” is not a control measure. An automatic, metered, monitored dosing system is.
