This Marine flashback arrestor is a spare part corresponding to Position 8 in the system drawing. It is designed to comply with maritime safety standards and is essential for acetylene and oxygen gas systems. Maritime authorities, such as the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, mandate the installation of flashback arrestors to prevent accidents caused by flashbacks, which can result from improper maintenance or misuse of gas welding equipment.

Flashbacks typically stop at a well-designed torch, identified only by a popping sound. However, faulty handling, maintenance, or incorrect gas pressure settings may lead to penetrating flashbacks. In such cases, the flame may travel through hoses, pass the regulator, and potentially reach the cylinder.

The inline acetylene flashback arrestor acts as a critical safety barrier, preventing flashback or decomposition from advancing to the high-pressure areas of the gas distribution system. Inline oxygen flashback arrestors are also available as accessories.

• Five-Year Replacement: Replace flashback arrestors every five years to maintain safety and compliance. For vessels under OCIMF SIRE and RIGHTSHIP RISQ, replacement is mandatory within five years from the manufacturing date. The manufacturing date is marked on the flashback arrestor for easy reference.
