The first offshore drilling operation is expected by late 2026 or early 2027, targeting the geological structure Asopos-1 at a depth of 4,000 meters below sea level.<\/p>\n<p>The project marks the first major offshore drilling in Greece in 40 years, since the Nireas-1 and Olympia-1 wells in the 1980s. Preliminary 3D seismic data estimate potential reserves of up to 7 trillion cubic feet (200 bcm) of natural gas, positioning Greece as a key hub for European energy diversification and energy security
